We watched the rainbow
Birds in their plumage aflow
We watched the fire
Of man's hope and his desire

We turned from the light
The stark contrast was too bright
We flew from the dark
Too much death after the ark

And now we are two
Too tired and blue
Memory and thought
Of old battles fought
